KUNG-FU or WU-SHU
Wu-Shu is the correct term for all Chinese Martial Arts; therefore Kung-Fu and Wu-Shu were originally the same. Literally translated , "wu" is military, "shu" is art.
Wu-Shu is therefore the art of fighting, or martial arts.
During the last thirty years Wu-Shu in mainland China was modernised so that there could be a universal standard for training and competing. In essence, much emphasis has been placed on speed, difficulty and presentation. Consequently, Wu-Shu has become an athletic and aesthetic performance and competitive sport; While "Kung-Fu" or as some like to refer to it traditional Wu-Shu remains the traditional fighting practise- they compliment each other! Tajiquan is a major division of Wu-Shu, utilizing the body's internal energy or "chi" and following the simple principle of "subduing the vigorous by use of the soft."

Wu-Shu is a great martial art with roots dating back thousands of years in China, and has been recognized as an ancient Asian art for the self discipline of mind and body. Wu-Shu is the Mandarin Chinese word for "martial art," and is the term used in China. Westerners are more familiar with the term Kung-Fu, which actually translates roughly time and effort or in other words into "skill''.
