Closure during April:

Easter Holiday:

Please note: St Andrew's Church Hall will be closed during the Easter week, from Sunday 17th April to Monday 25th April, therefore during this time there will be no Kung-Fu Training.

 

Friday 29th April: Bank holiday, No training.

 

Grading Exam

Due to the closure during April, grading exam has been postponed to end of May,

2nd grading exam of 2011 will take place on 27th May 2011 at 19:15.

This course is for members of Northern Shaolin System kung-Fu Traditional Wu-Shu, upon successful completion of this course you will be classed as an official Corner Crew of NSS Kung-Fu Traditional Wu-Shu and valid certificate holders will have access to Class C Referee course through The Federation of UK Wushu.

New training timetable and price list:

Effective from March 2011;

Kids:

Tuesdays 19:00 – 20:00 Kids Fight club, (Sparring sessions, Equipment required)

Fridays 19:00 – 20:00 Kids Traditional Kung-Fu, (as usual)

Price for training once a week is £5.00 a session, however for children who would practice twice a week there will be a special discount, Kids to be able to attend this session must provide their own: Boxing Gloves, Head Guard, Shin Guard, Groin Guard (for boys), Mouth Guard and kick boots.

All equipments must be purchased from the NSS Kung-Fu.

 

Adults:

Tuesdays 20:00 – 21:30 San-Shou & Weapon Training,

Wednesdays 20:15 – 21:30 Coach training & Competition class,strictly by invitation

Thursdays 20:30 – 21:45 Chen Tai-Chi and Meditation,

Fridays 20:00 – 21:30 Traditional Kung-fu,  (as usual)

Price for training once a week is £6.00 a session, however students who would like to practice two or three times a week will receive a special discount, adults who participate in San-Shou and weapon training, must provide their own: Boxing Gloves, Head Guard, Shin Guard, Groin Guard and Mouth Guard, all weapons must be purchased from us (to ensure that you have the right type of weapon).

All students: To be eligible for grading exams you must attend at least 12 Friday sessions, Fridays are only days that we practice traditional Wu-Shu.

Competitions:

All students who are participating in Quingda and San-Shou competitions are advised to be vaccinated against Hepatitis A and B as it can be transmitted by sweat or blood.

Kids Kung-Fu, To the attention of parent(s)!

Here at NSS Kung-Fu we take students progress very seriously and as part of our training policy we would therefore like to ask all parents to not remain in the training area during the kids training session as it slows down their progress.

IMPORTANT REMINDER:

I would like to remind all students of NSS Kung-Fu, that:

If you fail to attend training for 4 months, you will not be allowed to wear your sash up-on your return until you have demonstrated your skill and abilities,

If you fail to attend 6 months of training then your membership will not be valid up-on your return, you will be treated as a new student and you will need to start from 10th grade (White Sash) again.

All students need to attend at least 12 sessions before they can participate in grading exams.

Tai-Chi classes:

All Tai-Chi students who have missed training sessions must complete their course by 2nd  March 2011, at the moment there are no more Tai-Chi sessions planned for 2011.

 

 

KIDS FIGHT CLUB (NEW)

 

From March 2011. For all junior members of NSS Kung-Fu age 5+.

The aim of this training is to train all junior students in the art of Qingda and prepare them to participate in National Championships. All students must be a full member of the NSS Kung-Fu traditional Wu-Shu (for insurance and licence purpose) and provide their own safety equipments including: boxing gloves, gum shields, head guard; groin guard, head guard and shin and insteps. All equipments must be purchased from the NSS Kung-Fu.

 

 

 

September 2010 

 

On 19th September Northern Shaolin System Kung-Fu Traditional Wu-Shu’s competitors participated in National Sparing Championship (Qingda) organised by British Council for Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA) in Derby.

In this event Larisa Pop and Theodore Symons represented our organisation and showed their skills and techniques in front of 100s of competitors from across the UK and both successfully managed to achieve national champion titles.

 

Larisa Pop: 1st place, Gold Medal, Female under 18s.

Theodore Symons: 2nd Place, SILVER MEDAL, Male under 15s.

 

On behalf of our club and The Federation of UK Wushu we would like to congratulate them on their achievements and wishing all the competitors of NSS Kung-Fu the best of luck for the future events.

Team selection:

The team selection to represent NSS Kung- Fu will take place on Wednesday 14th July 2010.

Who Can Enter this team selection?  
You are a full member of Northern Shaolin System Kung-Fu Traditional Wu-Shu.
You have a current membership.
You are aged between 5 and 50 years old.
 
 

If you meet all the above criteria and you are interested to challenge your technique and skills in the forth coming event “National Sparing Championship” organised by British Council for Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA) on 19th September then you must undergo a set of test and meet the requirements of NSS Kung-Fu.

During this 90 min session you will be given a clear instruction of rules of the competition.

You technique and your fitness level will be monitored. Suitable candidates will receive an invitation letter within 2 weeks after the test.

You will need to bring all your protective gears including:

Head guard, Gum shield, Boxing Gloves*, Groin guard and shin Guard

*Boxing gloves:

10oz Boxing Gloves for over 60 kgs 

8oz Boxing Gloves for under 60kgs

Chest guards are optional, long trousers must be worn.

The cost for team selection is £10.00 per attendee, and spectators are not permitted in the team selection.

All places must be booked in advance; the last date to sign up is Friday 9th July 2010.

Dear Students / Competitor,

Unfortunately due to lack of capability and unprofessional performance of British National Martial Arts Association, Black Belt International and Martial Arts Collective, the MALYMPEX competition which was planned for 16th May 2010 has been cancelled for this year.

Please refer to the following article on the Derby Telegraph, I apologise to all competitors for being a member of such unprofessional organisation.

Please note the insurance fraud of this organisation does not affect Northern Shaolin System Kung-Fu Traditional Wu-Shu as we are a member of British Council for Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA) and you are all insured through BCCMA.

I hereby declare that Northern Shaolin System Kung-Fu Traditional Wu-Shu is no longer a member of British National Martial Arts Association, Black Bent International and Martial Arts Collective and we will no longer participate in any event organised by mentioned organisations.

We "NSS Kung-Fu Traditional Wu-Shu" will take the responsibility towards our members regarding your entry fees and we will refund all the money that competitors have paid towards their entrance for the competition on 16th May.

 

September 2009

20 September 2009: Northern Shaolin System Kung-Fu Traditional Wu-Shu participated in National Sparing Championship organised by British Council for Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA), in this event Michael Fewell as the only competitor represented NSS Kung-Fu Traditional Wu-Shu and successfully managed to gain the title of 3rd National Champion of the UK in 2009.

Well done Michael for performing 2 professional fights, keep up the good work and best of luck for the future competitions.

13th September 2009, 6 competitors from NSS Kung-Fu took part in MALYMPEX (martial arts Olympics) organised by Black Belt International (BBI) & British National Martial Arts Association (BNMAA), they fairly challenged their opponents which led them to a very satisfactory result.

Tom Brown : Boys under 6 FT , Light Continues

Luke Wise : Man s over 5FT 10, Semi Contact, Semi Finalist

Special thanks to Teige for his very well controlled performance which led him to be an example for all the competitors (said the referee). Thanks to Michael for volunteering to represent Northern Shaolin System Kung-Fu Traditional Wu-Shu in forthcoming event on Sunday 20th September, National Sparing Championship organised and held by British Council For Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA), I wish you the best of luck on behalf of the organisation, and many thanks to Vanessa for semi controlled performance against her opponent and winning the first prize.
Jonathan and Thomas keep up the good work I am very pleased with the experience you gained during this competition and thank you for representing the club. Luke you were excellent, being a semi finalist on your category is a challenge where you managed to face with courage.
